User Permissions

Your license type in the insightsoftware Platform determines the functions that are available to you in Disclosure Management.

Note: Users with different license types across products may encounter unexpected permissions. The Platform resolves to the highest-privilege license. Contact your administrator if you experience permission discrepancies.

Viewer

A user with a Viewer license can use the following functions:

  • See only the workspaces that they are a part of
  • View documents in the workspace that they are a part of
  • Show variables (Word and Excel)
  • Review variables, sections, reports
  • Add comments

Designer

A user with a Designer license inherits all permissions of a Viewer user, and has the following additional privileges:

  • Refresh data
  • Lock/Unlock data refresh
  • Edit documents in the workspace that they are a part of
  • Delete documents
  • Create variables
  • Insert variables (Word and Excel)
  • Refresh variables
  • Edit variables, sections, reports
  • Delete variables
  • Add/Remove variable labels
  • Update variables
  • Insert data queries in Excel documents
  • Overwrite query variables in Excel documents
  • Move document to workspace: from local and from workspace
  • Add as report
  • Roll forward reports
  • Generate outline
  • Create section
  • Remove section
  • Remove section and content
  • Publish to PDF

Power User

A user with a Power User license inherits all permissions of a Designer user, and has the following additional privileges:

  • Create workspaces
  • Own workspaces (admin of workspaces that they are added to)
  • Add users to workspaces that they own
  • See all workspaces that they are a part of
  • Create data queries (for workspace)
  • Create query variables (for workspace)
  • Associate data queries to workspaces
  • Change report properties (Due Date, Description, Name) of the ones that they own

Admin

A user with an Admin license inherits all permissions of a Power User, and has the following additional privileges:

  • Manage all workspaces for organization
  • View and manage all data queries for organization
  • View and manage all query variables
  • Associate data queries to all workspaces
  • Change all report properties (Due Date, Description, Name)
  • Roll forward all reports
  • Edit all documents
  • Review all variables, all sections, all reports
  • Refresh all data
  • Lock/Unlock all reports and documents
